A unique picture of windmills lined up on the length of a mountain range can be the subject of play jigsaw puzzles for assembly by kids and adults alike. Some places in some countries now have these structures serving a most useful purpose: the generation of electricity with the use of wind power. Wind power is a solution to the rising prices of fossil fuels now used to drive generators to produce the electric power requirements needed for many purposes.  

The power of the wind has helped humanity ever since. Before the advent of the use of diesel engines in powering the movement of ships, the wind has always been the power seafarers depended upon to get them to their destinations. Columbus discovered the American continent with the use of large wooden ships in his time powered with nothing but the wind. Large sails catching the wind moved his boats in the direction of what was called the “New World” then.  Magellan did the same thing, but went further to prove his theory that the world is round. He went around the world on just the power of the wind.

To make the windmills as the subject of kids jigsaw puzzles now will promote the revival of the use of the wind for its potential as a source of power. Now that the earth’s fossil fuel sources could be running out (maybe the rising fuel prices are an indication of a dwindling supply) humanity has to resort to other sources of power for the many uses now of electricity in modern life.

Likewise, the sun can be another source of power that can fuel man’s needs, as soon as ways are found to tap such awesome power source as the heat of the sun. While the windmills now seem to be the next alternative source of power, the sun will eventually be a major power source. The sun’s heat ironically is the cause of the global warming now that is beginning to change lifestyles of people around the world. The problem the sun has caused with the changing temperatures of the globe is precisely what forces man to look for other sources of energy, like the windmills.

The sun probably is just reminding humanity not to forget that the wind was one of the first sources of power when man started to move around exploring the globe, back to the days of Columbus and Magellan.
